A Little Life

You've heard it's "torture porn"-- but with all these 5 star reviews...it must be an exaggeration...how bad can it be, really? Plus, you love literary fiction.

After reading some more reviews, you're hesitant. But, there are still SO MANY 5 star reviews...what if this has the potential to be one of your favorite reads?

You just have to know.

You start reading. Hmm, this isn't bad so far. Yikes, I'm starting to see a bit of what they were referring to, but there are still some really beautiful moments.

The beautiful moments have started to be overshadowed by the pain. Ugh, this is getting brutal, really brutal.

Wow, pain pain pain. This is actually difficult to listen to, the honesty, the gratuitous suffering and torment. The end can't come soon enough.

You plow through the pain, the torture, the agony. You emerge at the other end feeling like Frodo after he finally threw the ring into Mt. Doom to destroy it.

But you don't feel joy or satisfaction, only regret.

But at least you know.
