In All The Pretty Horses, McCarthy proves he can do it all— hilarious dialogue, gorgeous biblical prose, and build thematic mountains veined with valuable ores of wisdom for the reader to extract. This novel lives up to its status as a bestseller and National Book Award winner, even though some readers may find it’s plot a bit simplistic, and/or that they may not be convinced that they need to continue on to the subsequent book in the trilogy.
