How High We Go in the Dark
2.75– How High We Go In The Dark ties together many interesting concepts and is well-written enough to have kept me reading to the end, but ultimately it was not as impactful as it promised to be. While I really enjoyed some of the the interconnected stories, I found myself not caring very much about some of them that didn’t resonate. It seems like that is a risk an author runs in writing a novel like this that is more fragmented than is typical. Nagamatsu’s ingenuity is apparent when the themes that connect the story lines successfully shine through, but you are left wanting more when the connections fall short.
