The Cartographers

4.5-- The Cartographers is an intricately woven tale that has a little bit of everything-- suspense, mystery, romance, and more. Throughout the novel I was consistently impressed with how Shepherd pushed the limits of possibility without the plot going off the rails; this book is truly an enjoyable rollercoaster ride. Plus, the characters are extremely relatable because they are all uniquely flawed and talented, and Shepherd skillfully capitalizes on their strengths and weaknesses. Ultimately, It's difficult not to be captivated by the world of maps and mapmaking because of the passionate way Shepherd has integrated the spirit of cartography into her story.
