White Teeth shines brightest during its many humorous moments and its many true to human nature characters are throughly entertaining. Smith touches on a variety of interesting themes, but the execution is scattered and her grand vision never quite comes together. However, even as a first introduction to Zadie Smith, White Teeth showcases enough of her literary chops that first time Smith readers would be more than likely to continue exploring her works.
